4 Ways to Prepare Your Email and SMS Marketing for the Holidays

The leaves are still hanging on for dear life and hardly a flake of snow has fallen in most areas of the country, but believe it or not, the holiday season is right upon us. 

While it may feel a little early to start marketing with a holiday message, according to TotalRetail.com, October 11 is the unofficial official start of the holiday shopping season and "marketing should start no later than mid-October, and by Nov. 1 brands should be significantly ramping up their marketing."

Email has long been a mainstay holiday marketing channel, but automated emails and SMS (text message) are becoming increasingly successful tactics for brands to reach and engage their customers. TotalRetail reports that brands sent 48% more SMS marketing messages during the first half of 2023 as compared to the same time period last year. And while 31% of all email orders in 2022 were generated from automated email messages, the figure has jumped to 47% during the first half of 2023.
