Do you know what cookies your audience likes? No, not the chocolate-chip kind 🍪 I’m talking about 1st party cookies and 3rd party cookies.

Google, Apple and various other search engines/sites/operating systems began phasing out 3rd party cookies as early as 2021, but Google dealt the killing blow in the tail-end of 2024. But what are 1st party and 3rd party cookies?

🍪 1st party cookies cater deals and info based on interest.

🍪 3rd party cookies are tracking codes placed on sites / the visitor’s computer AFTER being generated elsewhere.

So then why does this matter? Google can rank your site lower on the totem pole if 3rd party cookies are used and generally is no longer an accepted marketing tactic.

And not to mention 80% of consumers believe that data privacy is a human right, according to Hubspot.

At Lessiter Media, we are moving toward cookie-less tactics to cater to our audience. This cookie-less world actually leads to brand loyalty, reduces fatigue and better UX. In this infographic, take a look at examples of 1st, 2nd and 3rd party cookies and how we approach them.
