What’s the longest word, title or phrase you’ve heard? Besides Mary Poppins’ supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (No, I didn’t spell that right on my first try). I’d wager that most of us remember this as a joke — we find it funny to keep this word in our head for those random moments of use. But nothing else came to mind, did it? There’s a reason behind that.

Titles and headlines need to pull you in. Like a catchy or compelling headline within a certain character count before the page sticks the dreaded ellipses at the most inconvenient spot of your headline. Rarely will you see a good, catchy headline be longer than 10-15 words.

Well-written headlines play a significant role in improving visibility and ranking on search engine results. Search engines prioritize content with relevant and engaging headlines — they signal to algorithms the topic and potential value of the content.
